The Lust Issue
eDOT's photograph titled "Detroit, A Step Above" was recently published in the Metro Times... The Metro Times is a Detroit based magazine that has approximately 657,000 monthly readers. It has been in publication for over 25 years and has become Detroits weekly alternative for news, art, culture, music, fashion, film, food and more.
"Detroit, A Step Above" (published 2/9/11) was taken back in 2009 from atop an undisclosed abandoned location. The subject was the Broderick Tower. The Broderick Tower was once considered the United States tallest abandoned building (34stories) and stands in the heart of downtown on Woodward Avenue. The photograph also shows Ford Field (home of the Detroit Lions football team) in the background which contrasts the old and the new architecture downtown. A bit of Graphic Design and manipulaion was added by eDOT to give the photo some creative character. The colors were changed to a custom sepia blend with high contrast to add age and depth. Then eDOT also added a customized "old english" D which has become a symbol to represent Detroit.
